We asked our principal and our assistant principal a few questions about their job at litchfield. They had very descriptive responses that show their love, care, and passion about their job at our school.
Mr. Cook's Responses:
How long have you worked as a principal, teacher, etc.?
I have worked 4 years at Litchfield Middle as principal, 7 years at Adams Elementary as principal, 1 year at the Board of Education as a resource teacher, 7 years at Floyd Elementary as a 5th grade teacher, and 3 years at Holloway Elementary in Mobile, Alabama as a 3rd grade teacher.
On a scale of of 1-10, how much do you think Litchfield has improved?
I think Litchfield Middle has improved at about a 7 on a scale of 1-10.
What things are you trying to improve Litchfield?
I am working to make Litchfield a kinder school. I want the students and teachers to treat each other with respect. I expect students to come each day ready to learn. I expect teachers to use current methods of instruction that I want to provide an oppurtunity for all students to succeed.

Mrs. Campbell's Responses:
Over the last 5 years, have the disciplinary issues improved at Litchfield and how?
In the last 5 years, the climate at Litchfield has certainly changed. Discipline statistics show a downward trend with an overall decrease of discipline referrals. Referrals that are the Class II and III nature are far less prevalent. Referrals to the alternative school are also on the decline. Most offenses now deal with dress code, cell phones, and excessive distractions in the classroom. I try to be consistent and set high expectations in relation to student discipline. I try to always be even across the board and use progressive discipline measures in dealing with discipline. It is my hope that students will learn that misbehavior will not be tolerated and that they will act accordingly.
Has your job interfered with your personal life, outside of school?
This is an interesting question. I spend a great deal of my time here at the school. For the most part, it does not interfere with my personal life. It does mean that specific times of the year I do not have much time to call my own. At times, it has been difficult for my family and friends to understand. For example, the alarm is going off for the third time in the same night. It is nine o' clock, and i have to put my dog in the car to come check on the school building. It happens! It is the nature of my job. The quiet days are much appreciated.
How does your personal life connect with your job?
I have to be honest, I grew up different from many of you students. There are situations when I honestly have a hard time relating. I consider this to be a blessing more so than an issue of concern. I get to connect with you all deeper level. Many of you think you have an idea of who I am, just as I would like to think i have an idea of who you are. This is not always the case, so I enjoy getting to know the people that you are outside of the building. I would like to say that my personal life has prepared me for my job, but it did not. I did not set out to be a teacher. It kind of just fell in my lap, but my life has been immensely blessed for it!
